A New Zealand Center was set up this week at Peking University, China, according to a press release by University of Auckland Thursday.
It said senior representatives from The University of Auckland, Peking University and New Zealand government officials from both New Zealand and China have officially launched at a ceremony in Beijing Monday.
In opening the New Zealand Center, University of Auckland Vice- Chancellor Stuart McCutcheon the New Zealand center should be considered not just as a model for promoting global higher education and research, but also as a potential model for China- New Zealand cooperation.
A University of Auckland initiative, the New Zealand Center at Peking University will promote the study of New Zealand in China and strengthen long-existing ties between the two countries and these internationally-respected universities.
The Center will offer an undergraduate elective course on New Zealand, promote scholarly exchanges, undertake special projects to enhance understanding between New Zealand and China, and provide a forum for policy dialogue.
