China, New Zealand vow to boost bilateral ties
font size

The foreign ministers of China and New Zealand on Thursday pledged to further boost cooperation on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

China will work together with New Zealand to increase high-level exchanges, improve political trust and widen pragmatic cooperation to push forward bilateral relations in a continuous and deeper manner, said Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.

While meeting with Foreign Minister of New Zealand Winston Peters, Yang said China values relations with New Zealand and the two countries have witnessed notable achievements in various fields.

Peters, who is paying an official visit to China from May 21-26, said New Zealand will join hands with China to promote reciprocal cooperation between the two countries by taking advantage of the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

China plays an increasingly important role in the world, said Peters. He said New Zealand would not change its stance on the one-China policy.

Yang and Peters also exchanged views on the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and cooperation in East Asian region.
