China on Friday resumed its seat at the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), the top agency regulating safety in the meat and livestock trade.

The OIE's 169 members, meeting in Paris for the organization's general assembly, recognized the one-China policy and approved the restoration of China's membeship of the organisation.

China's Taiwan will remain a member of the organization as a non-sovereign region.
