font size

The U.S. military in Iraq announced Saturday the deaths of eight more American troops since Wednesday.

Seven American soldiers and a Marine have been killed in bombings, an ambush and shootings over the past four days, the military said.

According to the military, the worst attack took place on Saturday when three soldiers were killed and two were wounded while on patrol in Salahaddin province, north of Baghdad.

Also on Saturday, one soldier died in a roadside bombing in south Baghdad and a Marine was killed during combat operations in Anbar province, west of the capital.

Earlier in late Friday, one soldier was killed in an ambush near Taji north of Baghdad, while two others were hit by a roadside bomb on Wednesday in eastern Baghdad.

Foreign media said that the deaths raised to at least 100 the number of U.S. forces killed in May, bringing the U.S. death toll to over 3,450 since the outbreak of U.S.-led invasion to Iraq in 2003.
