Angolan embassy in Bissau officially opensThe Angolan embassy to Guinea Bissau has been officially opened in Bissau, the capital of Guinea Bissau, the Angolan official news agency ANGOP reported on Saturday. Manuel Gomes dos Santos, secretary general of the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the opening ceremony on Friday as part of the celebrations of Africa's Day that falls on May 25. The official inauguration of the embassy "is seen as a clear sign of the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, " Gomes dos Santos was quoted as saying. He added that the opening is one of achievements made by Guinea Bissau's President Joao Bernardo Vieira during his state visit to Luanda in February this year. During the visit, the two countries signed a number of accords of economic, scientific, technical and cultural nature, social order and security. A protocol of cooperation between Angola and Guinea Bissau are also bound through memorandums of understanding signed in the domains of social communication, air services, natural resources and environment. Cooperation between the two countries started just after the independence of the two countries in the mid-1970's through accords of friendship and cooperation, commercial and financial nature.
