Tanzanian defense minister visits China to promote military cooperation
font size

Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan held talks of promoting military cooperation with visiting Tanzanian Minister of Defense and National Service Juma Kapuya on Monday.

Cao said the friendship between China and Tanzania had stood the test of time and changes of international situation.

The relations between two armed forces were friendly with strengthening exchanges and cooperation, Cao said.

Kapuya said the two countries had seen frequent exchanges of high-level visits, which have consolidated bilateral ties.

The two armed forces had maintained sound cooperation and Tanzania hoped to continue developing military relations with China, Kapuya said.

Kapuya arrived on Sunday for a nine-day official visit to China at the invitation of Cao. This is his first visit to China since he took office as Tanzania's defense minister in January.

Before the talks, Cao held a welcome ceremony for Kapuya. Zhang Qinsheng, deputy chief of General Staff of Chinese People's Liberation Army, also attended the talks.

Besides Beijing, Kapuya will also visit Chengdu in southwest Sichuan Province and Shanghai in east China.
