Trans-border service trade hit US$190 billion last year
font size

The import and export value of China's trans-border service trade hit US$191.75 billion in 2006 (as calculated by the balance of payments, not including government services), up 22.1 percent from 2005. Wang Xinpei, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, stated at a news conference on May 30th, that imports and exports continue to expand.

In 2006, China's service trade had three main characteristics. One was a reduced trade deficit; the second were rapidly developing new areas; and the third were highly concentrated export and import markets. Hong Kong, the US and Japan have become China's top three key partners in the service trade.
