Gasoline prices fell for the third straight week this week in Southern California which has the highest gasoline prices in the nation, the Automobile Club of Southern California said Friday.
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area fell 3.9 cents this week and now stands at 3.384 dollars a gallon, the same as this time last month and 2.5 cents more than at this time last year.
"Gasoline prices are 5-10 cents below record prices set in early May," said Auto Club spokeswoman Carol Thorp.
"Refinery production and gasoline inventories are up and that is putting downward pressure on pump prices, although it seems that prices go down much slower than they went up."
The Auto Club provided this breakdown of gasoline prices in selected portions of California and Nevada as of 12:01 a.m. Friday.
