font size

The world renowned hotel chain Hilton is to open an outlet at a lake resort in southern Macedonia, the country's prime minister said on Friday.

Nikola Gruevski said the project, along the coastline of Ohrid Lake, will be finished and put into use in two and a half years, news reaching here from Skopje reported.

The Austrian Soravia Group, which built the Hilton hotel in downtown Vienna, has been awarded the contract by the Macedonian Ministry of Transport and Communications.

The overall investment of the project, with a total floor area of 55,700 square meters, is estimated at 25 million euros, Makfax, Macedonia's independent news agency, reported.

"The investment is very important for Macedonia and the city of Ohrid because it will help attract tourists and create jobs," the prime minister said.

Hilton has more than 2800 hotels in more than 80 countries across the world.
