Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Saturday met here with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, local press reported.

In a press release issued after their meeting, Mottaki said he had sent "a message of fraternity" of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to his Algerian counterpart, with respect to "the development in this region," Algerian news agency APS reported.

The Iranian minister also praised "the important role" played by Algeria in North Africa, in Middle-East and in various regions of the world.

He also stressed that Iran was at the disposal of participating Algeria's development process, in view to "giving a new impetus to brotherly relations between these two countries and to assure the stability and security in the region."

Mottaki who arrived in Algiers on Friday for a two-day visit also met with Algerian government chief Abdelaziz Belkhadem and state minister and foreign minister Mohamed Bedjaoui.
