Fatah militant killed in West Bank operation
font size

A Palestinian militant, affiliated with President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, was killed on Sunday morning during clashes with Israeli forces in West Bank town of Jenin.

A spokesman for al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Fatah's military wing, told reporters that Mohammed Farahati, 22, was hit with more than one bullet when he confronted an Israeli force that entered Jenin refugee camp.

Farahati was the commander of a common force comprising militants from Fatah and the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) movement. The group was formed to curb Israeli operations in Jenin.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army continued ground operation in Nablus city that began late last night. When the tanks entered the city, they gunned down a civilian youth and wounded three others.
