Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva arrived here Sunday morning on a three-day state visit, aiming to establish strategic and economic ties with India.
Accompanied by a high-level business delegation, Lula expressed confidence in signing up a series of agreements with India.
"We will leave India with some good agreements," he said, describing pharmaceuticals, IT, energy, agriculture, and infrastructure as among the fields where there was great potential to work together.
With India and Brazil entering into trillion dollar economies, Lula's visit will increase business and investment opportunities between the two countries, diplomatic sources here said.
Lula will hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on a wide range of bilateral, regional and global issues Monday and attend a newly-launched India-Brazil CEOs forum.
