A delegation from China's National People's Congress (NPC) left for Russia on Monday to attend a high-level seminar between the legislative bodies of China and Russia.

The delegation, headed by Lu Yongxiang, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, is invited by the Russian Federation Council.

The seminar, co-chaired by the NPC and the Russian Federation Council, is a project under the "Year of China" in Russia in 2007.

Delegates from China and Russia will share the experiences about the legislation on market economy and discuss ways to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin have agreed to host national theme years in each country to enhance the China-Russia Strategic partnership. The "Year of Russia" in China was held in 2006.
