SEOUL: Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi exchanged views on international issues with his Russian and Kuwaiti counterparts yesterday.
The ministers are in the Republic of Korea's capital to attend the 6th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), which kicked off yesterday.
Talking to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Yang said he hope that the major agreements between the Chinese and Russian presidents would be implemented fully and the "Year of China" in Russia would sail smoothly and produce tangible results.
Yang said high-level contacts between the two countries should be maintained and strategic cooperative ties ought to be taken to a higher level.
Lavrov responded positively, saying China and Russia should enhance dialogue and mutual trust, and continue to support one another on major issues such as international and regional security.
The two ministers agreed to communicate and coordinate to make the upcoming the G8 and developing countries' summit a success. They agreed to do the same with the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The two sides also exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, and agreed to work together for an early breakthrough in the Six-Party Talks.
Yang lauded Sino-Kuwaiti relations during his meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
He said he hoped the two sides would have closer political consultations and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, energy and other areas.
Al-Sabah said Kuwait attaches great importance to its ties with China and is willing to maintain high-level contacts with it and enhance cooperation.
