Indian IT firm to expand multi-lingual tech support

Indian IT major, Wipro Technologies, is set to roll out operations for multilingual support in French, German and Spanish from India to its clients, national business daily, The Economic Times, reported on Wednesday.

The firm also plans to start support services in Chinese and Japanese soon.The initiative will see Wipro staff providing remote and foot-on-the-ground technical support in these three languages, the newspaper quoted Wipro managed services vice-president K.N. Venkataramanan as saying.

Currently, Wipro has a small team in West Indian city Pune and south Indian Chennai, supporting European client as a pilot project.

"We expect to triple the number of people for this kind of support by the end of 2007 from India," he told the newspaper. Furthermore, Wipro will also have teams in Romania and Brazil for multilingual support service.

Wipro already provides multilingual tech support through partnership tie-ups and language-support tie-ups. In fact, the company supports 17 languages in 60 countries across 350 locations.

Wipro is the largest remote-technical support provider in India.
