Global warming accelerates Greenland ice sheet melting
Scientists estimate that Greenland ice sheet is disappearing at about 100 to 150 cubic km per year. If the ice cap, some 2.6 cubic km (accounting for a 10th of the fresh water in the world), melted entirely, oceans would rise by 7 meters, flooding New York and London, and drowning whole island nations like the Maldives.

Kidnaper shot, girl rescued in KFC, Shanghai
An armed policeman takes the rescued little girl quickly away from the site. On June 6, around 3:10 pm, a man who was seemingly in mental disorder suddenly kidnapped a girl with a knife at a KFC outlet in Shanghai, and was shot dead on the spot after nearly seven hours of confrontation with local police. The three-year-old girl was not hurt.
