Philippine president woos closer trade ties with SW ChinaPhilippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo concluded her two-day tour to southwest China on Thursday, seeking to boost closer trade ties between the Philippines and the region. Arroyo, heading a business delegation, attended a trade seminar in Chongqing Municipality on Thursday and vowed to enhance cooperation with the city in areas like automobile, motorcycle, mining and logistics. The Philippines is ready to conduct extensive exchanges and cooperation with western China, said Arroyo in a speech at the seminar. More than 100 representatives and the Philippine delegation, consisting of businessmen in the sectors of foodstuff, machinery, tourism and information technology, attended the seminar. The Philippines is one of the major importers of motorcycles and nickel turned out in Chongqing. Arroyo also held talks with Chongqing party chief Wang Yang and mayor Wang Hongju during the visit.
