China pledges reciprocal cooperation with Barbados
font size

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said in Beijing Friday that China will further reciprocal cooperation with Barbados on the occasion of 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

China and Barbados have witnessed fruitful cooperation in political, economic, cultural and educational fields, and carried out sound cooperation in international and regional affairs since the two countries forged ties 30 years ago, said Wen.

Wen told visiting Prime Minister of Barbados Owen Arthur that China will provide assistance to Barbados and encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in the Caribbean country,

The two countries should expand exchanges in such fields as trade, finance, agriculture and tourism, said Wen.

China has listed Barbados as one of designated destinations for Chinese tourists.

During one-hour talks with Arthur, Wen proposed the two countries further promote political trust and increase mutual understanding between the two peoples.

The two countries should also enhance coordination within the framework of South-South cooperation and North-South dialogue to safeguard the common interests of the developing nations, Wen said.

Arthur, who is on a five-day official visit to China, reiterated that Barbados will adhere to the one-China policy, saying Barbados and China will work together and support each other and play positive role in safeguarding world peace and justice.

China's persistent and robust development is conducive to world peace and stability and provides more opportunities for cooperation between China and the Caribbean region including Barbados, he said.
