Antonio Vitra Neto, vice chairman of Angola's ruling Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola ( MPLA), met in Luanda on Friday with the Chinese delegation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) at the MPLA headquarters in the Angolan capital Luanda.

"The visit of the Chinese delegation of the CPC Central Committee to Angola is a great encouragement for the Angolan ruling party MPLA, which must further promote development of the relations between our two parties and our two countries as well," Neto told the Chinese delegation headed by Zhang Dejiang, a politburo member of the CPC Central Committee.

Neto also expressed his heartfelt thanks to China for the support China gave to Angola during its war for independence and economic reconstruction after the war.

"Angola is now at a stage of economic rehabilitation," the MPLA leader said, adding that "brotherly two-way political and economic cooperation between the two countries is more important than ever. "

Meanwhile, Zhang Dejiang told his Angolan friends that political relations between China and Angola are good and two-way economic cooperation has big potentials to tap. "China would like to work together with Angola to further promote cooperative relations in all fields," he said.

During the one-hour talks, Zhang, who is also secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, introduced China's political and economic situations as well as related developments in Guangdong, China's southernmost province adjacent to Hong Kong.

Zhang also told his Angolan friends that as the CPC secretary of Guangdong, he will do his best to expand economic relations and foreign trade between Guangdong and Angola.

The Chinese delegation of the CPC Central Committee arrived in Angola on Thursday afternoon for a three-day visit to the southwestern African country.
