Angola reaffirms one-China policy

Vice chairman of Angola's ruling Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) Antonio Pitra Neto said in Luanda Friday that Angola firmly sticks to one-China policy.

"Angola will never and ever change its policy towards China," Neto told a visiting Chinese delegation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

During a one-hour meeting with the Chinese delegation headed by Zhang Dejiang, a politburo member of the CPC Central Committee, the MPLA leader added that "Angola will firmly stick to one China policy, and China's importance toward Angola is unshakeable."

Meeting with Zhang and his party at the MPLA headquarters in the capital Luanda, Neto also expressed his heartfelt thanks to China for China's support and assistances to Angola during its war for independence and economic reconstruction after the war.

On behalf of CPC General Secretary and Chinese President Hu Jintao, Zhang, who is also secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, conveyed Hu Jintao's sincere solicitude and best wishes to MPLA Chairman and Angolan President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos.

Zhang said political relations between China and Angola are good and two-way economic cooperation has big potentials to tap. " China would like to work together with Angola to further promote cooperative relations in all fields," he added.

Zhang also expressed his thanks to Angola's ruling party MPLA's warn invitation and lavish hospitality.

As the secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Zhang told his Angolan friends new development Guangdong has made in economic reforms in recent years.

The Chinese delegation of the CPC Central Committee arrived in Angola on Thursday afternoon for a three-day visit to the southwestern African country. It is scheduled to leave Angola for Tanzania on Saturday.
