A delegation of the China-ASEAN Association, led by its president Gu Xioulian, arrived here on Sunday for a five-day goodwill visit to Myanmar.
Gu, who is also Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, is accompanied by officials of the association and those of provincial-level people's associations for friendship with foreign countries as well as a business group made up of nearly two dozen members.
Greeting Gu at the Yangon International Airport were Yangon Mayor Brigadier-General Aung Thein Lin and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Guan Mu as well as representatives of overseas Chinese in Myanmar.
During its visit in Myanmar, The China-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) association delegation is expected to call on First Secretary of the State Peace and Development Council Lieutenant-General Thein Sein and meet with Secretary-General of the Union Solidarity and Development Association and Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Major-General Htay Oo.
The mission of the China-ASEAN association is to promote cooperation and communication between China and the ASEAN countries in the fields of politics, culture, business, technology, sports and others.
The delegation will proceed to visit Indonesia and Brunei after visit Myanmar.
