The secretary-general of the Union Solidarity and Development Association (USDA) of Myanmar, Major- General Htay Oo, met with visiting delegation of the China-ASEAN Association, led by its president Gu Xiulian, on Monday.
At the meeting, the two sides briefed each other on the status of their respective associations and expressed wishes to strengthen exchange and cooperation in order to enhance the two countries' neighborly, friendly and cooperative ties as well as the continuous development of the friendship between the two peoples.
Gu, who is also vice-chairwoman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress and president of the All-China Women's Federation, arrived in Yangon on Sunday on a five-day goodwill visit to Myanmar at the invitation of the USDA.
On Monday afternoon, Gu also met separately with Vice-President of the Myanmar Women's Affairs Federation Daw Khin Thet Htay and Yangon Mayor Brigadier-General Aung Thein Lin here.
The Chinese delegation, comprising officials of the association and those of provincial-level people's associations for friendship with foreign countries as well as a business group made up of nearly two dozen members.
The mission of the China-ASEAN Association, which is a non- governmental organization founded in 2004, is to promote cooperation and communication between China and the different member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN) in such fields as politics, culture, business, technology and sports.
The Chinese delegation will proceed to Indonesia and Brunei after Myanmar visit and take part in the second meeting of regional friendly organizations of ASEAN-China in Brunei.
