China's State Council, the cabinet, has recently appointed two high-ranking officials.

Xu Shaoshi was appointed State Land Inspector-General, replacing Sun Wensheng.

Ren Qiliang was appointed deputy head of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.

In the meantime, Xu was removed of deputy secretary-general of the State Council.

China's top legislature approved on April 27, 2007, the cabinet's nomination of Xu Shaoshi as the country's new minister of land and resources to replace Sun Wensheng.
