China's automobile production, sales both increase 20 percent

The monthly production and sales statistics, announced by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on June 11th, show that from January to May of this year, the production and sales of China's automobiles reached 3.7204 million and 3.6462 million, up by 21.32 percent and 22.03 percent more than in the same period last year.

The production and sales of passenger cars hit 2.6177 million and 2.5727 million, up by 20.11 percent and 21.09 percent more than in the same period last year; and the production and sales of commercial vehicles hit 1.1027 million and 1.0735 million, up by 24.30 percent and 24.36 percent more than in the same period last year. The statistics show that in May, the production and sales of China's automobiles fell from the previous month- of which the production and sales of commercial vehicles fell by a little more than passenger cars. Also in May, the production and sales of the automobiles hit 710,200 and 713,600, falling by 12.88 percent and 11.76 percent from the previous month, and up by 21.76 percent and 25.29 percent more than in the same period last year.
