Jiang Daming has been appointed vice governor and acting governor of east China's Shandong Province.

Jiang, born in March 1953, was appointed on Wednesday at the 27th Session of the 10th Standing Committee of Shandong Provincial People's Congress, the local legislative body.

Jiang is a native of Rongcheng, Shandong, and he joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in November 1976. He graduated from the Heilongjiang University in January 1982 with a major in philosophy.

He has served as vice secretary of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee since December 2000 and secretary of the CPC Jinan Municipal Committee since January 2004.

Wednesday's meeting also accepted the resignation of 63-year-old Han Yuqun as governor of Shandong.
