A group calling themselves " Thaksin Comeback" Thursday went to the office of Thailand's Assets Examination Committee (AEC) to protest against its decision to freeze the assets of ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his family.
The group members condemned the decision as unfair and handed a letter to the AEC demanding that the panel quit.
The AEC on Monday ruled that the assets of Thaksin Shinawatra and his associates should be frozen on charges of corruption and malfeasance. AEC ordered the freezing of all bank accounts, issued inside and outside Thailand and at all financial institutions.
The order came as AEC alleged that Thaksin abused his power and corrupted for the benefits of his Shin Corp, the Shinawatra family 's business empire, in five projects which included his wife's purchase of Ratchadapisek land, purchase of rubber saplings, purchase of bomb detector machines for Suvarnnabhumi Airport, issuance of two and three-digit lotteries.
