    Bridge collapses after being hit by boat in S China

    Photo taken on June 15, 2007 shows the collapsed bridge after being hit by a sand-laden boat in Foshan, south China's Guangdong Province. The accident occurred around 5:10 a.m. Friday when a sand-laden boat was sailing through under the bridge, which connects the Jiujiang Township in Nanhai district of Foshan to the neighbouring Heshan City. The boat hit a pier of the bridge, and at least 150 meters of the bridge structure collapsed.

    Stands of Bird Nest installed

The bowl-shaped stands of the National Stadium, dubbed the "Bird's Nest" have been completed recently after an eight-month installation process. The stands are composed of a total of 14,700 slabs in different size and form, with the biggest piece weighing 18 tons and being 11-meter long.
