Anti-coup alliance submits demand for junta to resign
font size

The leaders of the Democratic Alliance Against Dictators of Thailand on Sunday submitted a demand for the Council for National Security (CNS) to resign and hold a snap election.

The alliance leaders led by former judge Manit Jitchankrab submitted their demand letter to Army secretary Maj. Gen. Wiran Chanthasat at the Army headquarters in the morning, local news network The Nation said.

The letter demanded the CNS to reinstate the 1997 constitution, which was abolished soon after last year's military coup, and hold an election immediately.

The alliance also called on the CNS leaders, most of whom were also coup makers, to participate in a public debate with the alliance leaders.
