The National Bureau of Statistics in China announced that in May, the total volume of retail sales of public consumer goods hit 715.8 billion Yuan, up by 15.9 percent more than in the same period last year. Between January and May, the total volume of retail sales of public consumer goods reached 3.5018 trillion Yuan, up by 15.2 percent more than in the same period last year.

In terms of industrial growth, the volume of retail sales of wholesale and retail hit 605.2 billion Yuan, up by 15.7 percent more than in the same period last year. The volume of hotel and restaurant industry retail sales hit 98.4 billion Yuan, up 18.7 percent; and the volume of other industries' retail sales hit 12.2 billion Yuan, up 6.5 percent.
