The second China-Arab Business Conference opened here Monday, some 1,000 entrepreneurs from China and 16 Arab countries participated in the conference.

The two-day conference, under the theme of "Deepening Cooperative Partnership to Achieve Common Prosperity," includes workshops on fields such as energy, trade and medium and small- sized projects.

Businessmen from the two sides will also sign agreements and deals during the conference.

Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee Luo Haocai said during the opening ceremony that as a significant event under the framework of China- Arab Cooperation Forum, the conference is expected to provide an opportunity to promote understanding and to strengthen bilateral trade relations between the Arab world and China.

The China-Arab Business Conference is organized by the China Council for Promoting International Trade, Arab Businessmen Federation and Arab Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.

China-Arab Cooperation Forum was initiated to the League of Arab States by Chinese President Hu Jintao during his visit to Egypt in 2004. The first conference of Arab and Chinese businessmen was held in Beijing in 2005.
