Sheika Haya Rashed Al Khalifa, president of the 61st session of the United Nations General Assembly, arrived in BeijingTuesday to start her six-day official visit to China.

She will address the opening ceremony of the tenth meeting of the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said Tuesday.

Her schedule in Beijing also includes talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, a meeting with Premier Wen Jiabao and a visit to the main Olympic "Bird's Nest" stadium, according to Qin.

Besides Beijing, she will also visit China's financial hub Shanghai, Qin said.
