The Bangladesh government has approved a draft law for converting the problem-ridden national airlines Biman Corporation to a public limited company (PLC), private news agency UNB reported.

The Council of Advisers in its regular weekly meeting Saturday, with Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed in the chair, gave the approval after thorough discussions.

In the meeting, the council approved the draft Bangladesh Biman Corporation (Amendment) Ordinance 2007 to convert Bangladesh Biman Corporation to a public limited company (PLC) for its " commercialization, preventing mismanagement and trimming the manpower structure."

Following the reform, the national flag carrier will be running under the nomenclature of 'Bangladesh Airlines Limited' company.
