Macao police launch crackdown on criminals

The Macao police have nabbed 106 suspects in the "Thunderclap 07" anti-crime raids conducted in June, local media reported Tuesday.

The Macao Post Daily quoted police sources as saying that the captured suspects have been transferred to the Public Prosecution for further investigations.

The swoops mainly targeted local night entertainment venues, casinos and video game centers as a part of the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, drug abusing, loansharking, Internet crimes and the organized crimes, the sources were cited by the newspaper.

Some 2,000 police personnel took part in the raids and some 1, 000 people have been taken in for questioning during the swoops, according to the newspaper.
