MOSCOW, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Dragon cargo spaceship has successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS), Russia's Mission Control Center said Wednesday.

The spacecraft has docked with the U.S. Harmony module at 16:51 Moscow time (1251 GMT), the control center said in a statement published on its website.

The docking was conducted using the Canadian-made Canadarm-2 manipulator which caught the Dragon at 10-meter approach from the ISS. The Canadarm was operated by Japanese astronaut Akihiko Hoside.

Dragon's designer Space Exploration Technologies controlled the whole docking process, said the Mission Control Center.

The privately-owned spaceship delivered 400 kg of cargo for the U.S. and Russian segments of the station.

Dragon was launched on Monday by Falcon-9 rocket from the U.S. space center in Florida. Its undocking and deorbiting are scheduled for October 28.

Space Exploration Technologies, under contract with NASA, plans to conduct at least ten more missions of the Dragon spacecraft, said the statement.
