University rivals splash out for sports

The students in blue from Fudan University and their Shanghai Jiao Tong University counterparts in yellow battle it out on the river at the Shanghai Oriental Green Land yesterday. The academic rivals squared off in dragon boat races as part of a drive to promote sports among Chinese youth. Fudan won the men's race, Jiao Tong the women's. In the mixed race, Jiao Tong won by one second. The Ministry of Education's "Epic Rivalry" contest is due to take place in other cities.
