Dong Drum Tower Cultural Festival is held every Spring Festival in Guilin. People dance, sing and dine together to pray for a year of abundance and celebrate Spring Festival on Feb.15, 2013.
Guangxi has long been home to China’s Dong ethnic minority. To celebrate the Year of the Snake, Dong people have been holding a variety of traditional folk events such as Grass Dragon dance, Baijia banquet, etc.
The Dong people are one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the People's Republic of China. They are famed for their native-bred Kam Sweet Rice, carpentry skills, and unique architecture, in particular a form of covered bridge known as the "wind and rain bridge". The Dong people live mostly in eastern Guizhou, western Hunan, and northern Guangxi in China.
"Dong people are very passionate and pure. And the food is so tasty!" A tourist said. So, if you get tired of modern urban life, this may be the best place for you to taste the traditional flavor of spring. (Gao Yinan)
