10. The name of the street, "Arbat," comes from Arabic. A popular neighborhood since the 19th century, you can find many famous names on doors such as Tolstoy and Gagarin. Before the 1917 revolution, the street was the culture center of Moscow, boasting over 200 stores, four cinemas and a music school. Now it has developed to two streets: Arbat Street and new Arbat Street. Big supermarkets, entertainment centers and restaurants are located on New Arbat Street. Book stores, antique stores and jewelry stores are situated on old Arbat Street.
