Two American soldiers were killed in two incidents in Iraq on Wednesday, the U.S. military said on Thursday.

A soldier assigned to Multi National Division-Baghdad was killed while conducting combat operations in an area west of Baghdad, the military said in a statement.

Another soldier died of a non-battle related cause in Salahudin province north of Baghdad, the military said in a separate statement without providing further details.

The soldiers' names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statements added.

The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to about 3,790 since the outbreak of the Iraqi war in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
