The Cabinet of Japan's newly- elected Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda was formally launched Wednesday morning after the attestation ceremony at the Imperial Palace.

The Cabinet is scheduled to appear in front of photographers at the prime minister's official residence and hold its first meeting shortly after.

The imperial attestation ceremony was originally scheduled for later Tuesday, but was delayed because it was too late when the first procedural press conference of several Cabinet ministers finished.

Fukuda was elected the nation's 58th prime minister by the parliament on Tuesday afternoon. He formed the Cabinet on the same day, retaining most of the former Cabinet left by Shinzo Abe.
