Hong Kong stocks went down 80.9 points, or 0.45 percent to close at 18,084.60 on Wednesday.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened lower and fluctuated in the negative during the morning trading, after which the market launched an effective rebound to the day high of 18,255.13 before retreating 171 points upon closing.
Turnover was 74.48 billion HK dollars, slightly down from the previous day.
