A judge in Jinhua city of Zhejiang province is facing trial for embezzlement and bribery following investigations over a sex tape of him.

The case of Guo Jian, 41, a vice-director of the Supervision and Inspection Division of the Wucheng district court, was handed over to the Deqing County Prosecutors' Office in Huzhou on Wednesday and will be prosecuted soon, the Qianjiang Evening News reported yesterday.

Important criminal cases in the country are tried at different cities to avoid any negative influences on judgment.

In February, a sex tape of Guo was sent to several government departments and authorities launched investigations over the video.

Guo was allegedly having an affair with the married woman in the tape and the husband found out. After negotiations with Guo failed, the man allegedly made the tape and sent it to government officials.

In the same month, the disciplinary supervision department of the city also received reports of Guo having an "improper relationship" and being involved in bribery.

On March 10, he was taken into custody for embezzlement and bribery, officials said at a press conference that day. He had allegedly taken advantage of his post to embezzle money and take bribes. The exact amount Guo had embezzled and received as bribes has not been released. The prosecutor's office could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Born in 1968, Guo is a native of Jinhua. In 1995, he joined the Wu Cheng district law courts, serving in various roles before reaching the position of vice-director of the Supervision and Inspection Division in Sept 2007.
