The medical team of China's peacekeeping force in Liberia was awarded the UN first-class peacekeeping medal on July 20, reports from Monrovia, capital of Liberia, said on Sunday.

UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Liberia Alan Doss said the team has made great contribution to the peace and reconstruction of the war-torn country.

Doss said he is proud of the achievement that the Chinese peacekeeping force has achieved in Liberia, and the medal is far less than enough to honor their meritorious service.

The medical team, composed of 43 doctors from Beijing, has been based in Liberia since December last year.
