Chinese President Hu Jintao and his South Korean counterpart Roh Moo-hyun on Friday exchanged messages of congratulation on the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Thanks to the joint efforts of both countries, Chinese-S.Korean relations have witnessed rapid development and scored notable achievements since the establishment of the ties 15 years ago, Hu said in his message.
Bilateral cooperation in various fields has been deepened and close coordination in international and regional affairs has been enhanced, Hu said.
The development of bilateral ties has brought the two peoples tangible benefits and contributed to regional and international peace and development, he said.
The establishment of the China-South Korea all-round partnership of cooperation in 2003 provides broad prospects for the development of bilateral ties and marks a new stage for the ties between the two countries, Hu said.
Taking the 15th anniversary of bilateral ties as an opportunity, China is ready to work with South Korea to strengthen exchanges, expand cooperation and constantly enrich bilateral ties with new content in order to upgrade the all-round partnership of cooperation to a higher level, Hu concluded.
In his message, Roh Moo-hyun said South Korean-Chinese ties have achieved rapid development in politics, economy and culture, noting that China has become South Korea's largest trading partner and investment target.
He expressed his hope that, based on friendly cooperation, both sides could further promote the development of bilateral ties and cooperate closely with each other in a bid to achieve peace and prosperity in northeastern Asia.
Also on Friday, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi traded similar congratulations with their South Korean respective counterparts.
