Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Donald Tsang, the chief executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), in Sydney on Sunday.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 15th Economic Leaders Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.
Donald Tsang briefed Hu on Hong Kong's situation and the work of the new HKSAR government, and appreciated the central government for its full support to the HKSAR.
Tsang said he will work seriously to contribute to the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong.
Hu highly praised the work of new HKSAR government.
At present, Hong Kong's overall economic situation maintains sound momentum of development with continued economic growth and the improvement in people's living standards, he said.
Hu expressed his hope that the HKSAR government would stick to the governing concept of putting people first and observing the will of the people in the process of adopting and implementing policies.
The HKSAR government should make the most of its advantages, maintaining Hong Kong's status as a hub of international trade, finance and shipping, addressing the issues concerning constitutional development gradually in accordance with Hong Kong's actual conditions, and pushing forward Hong Kong's economic development and the improvement of people's living standards, he said.
