A man only released from the jail last year was sentenced 22 months in prison by a court in Shaoxing county, east China's Zhejiang province, for threatening to kill the judge who ruled in the first case.
In March, Pan Boming lingered around the gate of the court of Xinchang county and waited for the judge surnamed Liang to go out. Pan started to chase Liang at the first sight with a kitchen knife and threatened to kill him, the court of Shaoxing county heard.
The judge ran back into the court building and called the police. Pan gave up the chase before entering the building and ran away, and soon turned himself in to the police.
Pan Boming was previously sentenced 10 years in prison in January, 1999, by the Xinchang court for kidnapping and was released last June after the penalty was reduced.
Pan, believing the Xinchang court had given him an excessive sentence and leniency to the accomplice, bore a grudge about Liang and harassed him several times before the chase.
According to Chinese law, one who breaches the law within five year from being released from prison would be punished severely. The court said Pan was treated with leniency because he turned himself in to the police and confessed to the crimes.
