China on Thursday asked relevant parties in Myanmar to show restraint and properly handle the current issue.

"China has paid great attention to the situation in Myanmar, and we hope that all concerned parties of Myanmar show restraint and properly handle the current issue," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said at a regular press conference.

Jiang called on the concerned parties of Myanmar not to make the situation further complicated and magnified, and not to make it affect the peace and stability in Myanmar and the surrounding region.
