The Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a session on Friday to study the essence of the recent 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, presided over the meeting.
It is a primary political task for the whole Party and the whole of the Chinese people, at present and for a period of time, to carefully study and implement the essence of the Party Congress and work hard for realizing the goals and tasks set by the Party Congress, Jia said. He urged the senior CPPCC members to seriously study the documents of the CPC Congress and precisely comprehend its essence.
Liu Yunshan, member of both the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting to inform the senior political consultants of the Party Congress.
Liu hailed the newly-elected Party Central Leadership as being rich in the spirit of reform and innovation, rich in experience, trusted and supported by the people, capable of leading the people to overcome difficulties of various kinds on the way ahead, and to continue pushing forward the great cause of socialism with China's own characteristics.
General Secretary Hu Jintao's report at the 17th Party Congress is the crystal of the wisdom of the whole Party and the whole Chinese people from different ethnic groups, Liu said.
According to the CPC official, the country's non-communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and non-party-affiliation figures, who have made proposals and suggestions during the drafting of the report, have made important contributions to the success of the Party Congress.
Liu said Hu's report clearly displayed the political stance of the CPC which has adhered to the Reform and Opening-up Policy.
The participants congratulated the successful launch of the Chang'e 1 lunar probe.
