Nine top leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) attended the New Year's Day gathering held by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Tuesday.
All members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Hu Jintao, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang and Zhou Yongkang, were present at the gathering.
Chinese President Hu Jintao addressed the participants including leaders of the eight democratic parties and All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, personages without party affiliation and delegates from various walks of the society.
The gathering was presided over by Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.
