Most of the 23,081 proposals raised in the past five years by members of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, had been answered by relevant departments.
Yang Zhenjie, deputy director with the Subcommittee for Handling Proposals of 10th CPPCC National Committee, told reporters on Tuesday that 22,890 proposals, or 99.13 percent of the total, have been accepted and investigated by relevant government and Communist Party of China (CPC) departments.
"Many of the problems reflected in the proposals have been resolved and many suggestions have been embodied in relevant policy, regulations, development plans and work of government administrations in the country," Yang said.
During the past five years, 2,249 CPPCC members, or 97.02 percent of the total, have raised proposals, according to Yang.
The proposals covered key contemporary issues, including the economic cycle, corporate innovation, agricultural taxes, education fees, farmer's land rights and food security.
Proposals from CPPCC members are usually transferred to appropriate government or CPC departments, which are held responsible for answering complaints, resolving problems and adopting good suggestions.
The top political advisory body will hold this year's annual meeting, or its First Plenary Session of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, on March 3.
