The Second Meeting of the Standing Committee of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a plenary meeting on Friday.

Sixteen committee members made speeches on strengthening building of rural medicare system, emphasizing environmental protection during economic development, speeding up opening up in coastal regions, and helping farmers to get employed in other industries.

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, attended the meeting.
